This policy explains what happens to the information you give Speechmade. The short version: we use your answers to write what you asked for, we send them to Anthropic because their AI does the writing, and we delete them automatically after 30 days. We don't sell your information.
Who we are
Speechmade is run by Kreativity Marketing Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number [company number], registered office [registered address]). If you have any questions, email hello@speechmade.com.
What we collect
Your answers
To write your toast, vows, eulogy or obituary, we ask about you and the people involved: names, stories, what they are like, and for an obituary, family members and service details. We also record the type, tone and length you choose, and store what we write, including any rewrites. Please only include what you are comfortable sharing and what the piece needs.
The free card message tool
If you use our card message tool, what you type is sent to Anthropic to write the suggestions. We don't store what you type or the messages, apart from a daily count linked to your IP address to stop the tool being misused.
Your email address and payment
Payments are taken by Stripe. When you pay, Stripe gives us your email address, so we can send you a copy, and a record that the payment was made. If sales tax applies, Stripe may also collect your billing address to work it out. We never see or store your card details.
Your IP address
To stop the service being misused, we limit how many previews can be written from one internet connection each day. We store your IP address with a daily count, and it is deleted automatically after about a day. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, also processes IP addresses to keep the site secure.
Information saved on your device
While you fill in the questions, your answers are saved in your own browser so you can come back to them. This stays on your device until you press the button to write, and you can remove it by clearing your browser's site data.
Cookies and analytics
If you agree when we ask, we use Google Analytics to see how people use the site, such as which guides are read and
how many people go on to write something. Google Analytics sets cookies (named _ga and
_ga_ followed by a code) that last for up to two years. We don't send Google your answers, what we
write for you, your name or your email address. If you say no, Google Analytics isn't loaded. You can change your
choice at any time with the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page. We don't use advertising cookies.
How we use it
- To write your piece, show you the opening, unlock it after payment and carry out your rewrites
- To email you a copy
- To keep the site secure and stop misuse
- To keep records of payments, as the law requires
- To reply to you if you contact us
We don't send marketing emails, and we don't sell or share your personal information for advertising.
Who we share it with
- Anthropic. What we write is written by AI, using Claude, a model made by Anthropic. To write it, we send your answers and your chosen tone and length to Anthropic, and for a rewrite, the current text and your instruction. Under Anthropic's commercial terms, information sent through their API is not used to train their models. Anthropic may keep it for a limited period for safety and misuse monitoring, as described in Anthropic's privacy policy.
- Stripe processes your payment. See Stripe's privacy policy.
- Postmark sends the email with your copy.
- Cloudflare hosts the website and stores your answers and what we write.
- Google provides Google Analytics, only if you accept analytics cookies.
We may also share information if the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Your answers, what we write and your email address are deleted automatically 30 days after you first ask us to write, whether or not you paid.
- The daily count linked to your IP address is deleted after about a day.
- Payment records are kept by Stripe and in our accounts for as long as tax law requires, usually six years. They don't include your answers.
If you'd like your answers deleted sooner, email us with the link to your page and we will delete them.
Your choices and rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us for a copy of your information, ask us to correct it or delete it, or ask us to stop using it. Some US states, such as California, give residents these rights by law, and we offer them to everyone. Email hello@speechmade.com and we will reply within 30 days.
Age
Speechmade is intended for adults. It isn't directed at children under 13, and you need to be 18 or over to buy.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we use your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
